Why A Healthy Lifestyle Is Important For A Healthy Marriage

There are huge physical and spiritual benefits for your marriage in living a healthy lifestyle. This episode of Marriage After God shares 3 important areas of life that are positively impacted when we choose to live a healthy lifestyle and how it affects marriage.

1. Discipline: how self-control impacts your life. (6:13)

“A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” Proverbs 25:28 (6:35)

We give personal examples of the growth we have seen in our marriage from choosing to eat good and workout, as well as the spiritual discipline of spending time with God.

If you want to try sugar busters check your pantry and refrigerator for these added sugars and avoid them when buying groceries:

A Marriage After God allows each other to speak into each other’s lives, to require things and to expect the best of each other. We need to be humble to receive this. Being married is awesome because you are there to help each other.

2. Example: Leading by example. (13:58)

Leading in a healthy lifestyle will provide an example for others to follow. Lead by example for your spouse and for your children. Start walking out what you desire your spouse to walk in. Your example will inspire change in others.

3. Ability: The benefits of living healthy. (18:48)

What are you able to do because you are disciplined, healthy, fit, focused, moving in oneness in marriage and your family is following your example?

We share some personal examples, but consider this for yourself as well! We found we play and engage more with our children. We also experienced energy and agility increase in sexual intimacy. This is a HUGE benefit and spiritual benefit of living a healthy lifestyle! We noticed increased oneness in our marriage. Having a more active and healthy sexual lifestyle made us feel closer and more confident in our relationship.

When we grow in our ability when God gives us extraordinary opportunities we will be able and ready to do it. We are prepared. Our marriage is prepared.

Maturity is walking in spiritual disciplines, spending time with God reading His Word and praying.

“Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” 1 Timothy 4:7-8 (24:35)

Discipline spiritual life.

We must take baby steps to start building healthy habits. Start today!

Dr. Craig McDougall, son of John McDougall, MD., appears at a Northwest VEG vegan potluck. He describes his role as the Lead Physician of the Healthy Living program at Kaiser Permanente. He discusses the types of patients he typically sees with an overview of what he generally prescribes. Reminding the audience that he grew up in the John McDougall household, he demonstrates by his recommendations that he strongly agrees with the benefits of a plant based diet. He also answers varied questions posed by an audience eager to hear health advice from a vegan doctor’s perspective.

Healthy Living LIVE with guest Mark Huberman – NHA President

Attorney Mark Huberman has adhered to a plant-based diet for all of his 67 years and credits his excellent health to the Sheltonian diet upon which he was raised. He literally grew up with the NHA having attended his first “Convention” with his parents Max and Ruth Huberman in 1964 at the age of 13. He began his service to the NHA (then called the ANHS) as a national board member at age 18 and has served the Association for the past 48 years on just about every level.

He was elected the Association’s youngest President in 1977 and served two consecutive two-year terms. He returned to serve two more terms in the mid-1990’s and then once again from 2004-2005. In March 2012, he was again asked to serve as President.

In June 2014, following the retirement of long-time NHA Executive Director, Lynn Grudnik, of Tampa, Florida, Mark moved the NHA operations to Youngstown, Ohio where he operates the association on a completely voluntary basis. He also now serves as the Executive Editor of Health Science magazine which he created in 1978.

In 1978, Mark helped organize the International Association of Hygienic Physicians and continues to serve as Secretary-Treasurer.

Outside of his work for the NHA, Mark is currently serving his 19th year as Chief Magistrate of the Mahoning County Domestic Relations Court; Prior to that he was in the private practice of law for 20 years, 10 of which were as a Part-Time Magistrate of his local Juvenile Court. Mark has also been actively involved in leadership positions in a wide variety of community organizations.

Mark loves sports, the theater, and in the Summer time, his organic garden. He and his wife, Wanda, are the proud parents of daughters Heather and Lisa, who are both Life Members of the NHA. They are also incredibly proud of their niece, Liz Fowler, whom they have had the privilege of raising for the past 11 years.

Ramaphosa encourages healthy living on morning walk

President Cyril Ramaphosa and several locals hit the Klipfontein corridor, from the Gugulethu sports complex to Athlone stadium, for a brisk walk this morning. The sunrise workout is part of president Ramaphosa’s campaign, encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

‪Dressed in an ANC tracksuit and matching black takkies, Ramaphosa took a jovial 5,5 km walk with residents, stopping occasionally to chat to some on their morning commute to walk and school.
